★ backstory.
Halen Bishop had never been particularly good at staying out of trouble.Growing up, she was the kind of kid who threw herself into things before anyone had the chance to tell her not to. Competitive, stubborn, clever, and far too comfortable with taking risks, Halen learned early that being afraid of something wasn't a particularly good reason to back down. Her childhood changed after a traumatic loss left her family fractured in ways nobody quite knew how to fix. Halen dealt with it the only way she really knew how: by becoming better. Stronger. Faster. More capable. She threw herself into training, picked up archery, learned to fight, and developed an almost unhealthy determination to prove that she could handle herself. For a while, that determination was mostly aimed at herself. Then came the point where she found herself standing alongside someone who had spent years doing the exact things she'd been training herself to do.Working with Clint changed Halen's understanding of what being a hero actually meant. It wasn't glamorous. It wasn't always about winning. Sometimes it meant getting hurt, making impossible choices, cleaning blood off your clothes afterward, and still getting up the next morning.
She learned a lot from him. Possibly too much.Eventually, though, Halen realized she didn't want to spend the rest of her life waiting around for someone else to tell her where she belonged. She wasn't interested in becoming somebody's sidekick, and she wasn't sure she even wanted a permanent place among the people who called themselves heroes on a full-time team.So she left. Not dramatically. There wasn't some grand falling-out or final goodbye. Halen simply decided she needed something that was hers—a way to help people on her own terms without all the red tape or institutional drama.
Being able to make that choice was largely thanks to the sizable inheritance her parents had left behind. It was a bittersweet safety net, but it meant she never had to anchor herself to a corporate job or take suspicious freelance work just to pay the rent. She could focus entirely on being a hero in the shadows and figure out who she was outside of a tactical vest.
Eventually, a personal patrol and a trail of street-level heroics brought her across the ocean to Seoul.
She hadn't intended to stay. That was the first mistake. The second was making friends.Seoul was supposed to be another temporary stop. A place to do some good, get her bearings, and move on before anyone could get too attached. Instead, Halen found herself surrounded by people who didn't care about her reputation, her past, or whether she'd ever worked alongside a legendary archer.
They just liked her. Somehow, that was harder to leave than anything else. So she stayed. For now, at least.Life in Seoul was a strange, dual-existence Halen never expected for herself. By night, she was still patrolling, sneaking across rooftops, and stepping in whenever a situation got dangerous. But by day, she was an accidental content creator.
Without a traditional nine-to-five to worry about, she had started being active online - posting on social media and eventually launching a YouTube channel. Her content started accidentally: a few high-energy training vlogs, raw archery trick-shot demos, blunt life advice, and chaotic videos of her dog, Lucky, getting into trouble.
Somehow, it turned into an entire community.Halen occasionally posted about fitness, archery skills, life in Seoul, and the occasional vlog of whatever weird situation she'd blundered into that week. But the majority of her audience was there for Lucky. Lucky was, in Halen's opinion, the most important member of the household and the real star. Halen pretended to be annoyed that her dog was more popular than her retriculated compound bow trick shots. She absolutely was not.The online persona gave her an anchor. She was still a hero - reaching for her bow before she had time to think whenever someone needed help - but she now had a space to be human, unfiltered, and connected to people outside of masked patrols.Seoul wasn’t supposed to become home, but for nearly a year, it was exactly what Halen needed: a breather, a grounding force, and a place to figure out who she was when she wasn’t running from her own past.Yet, Halen Bishop was never built to stay still forever. The shift didn’t happen overnight, but rather in quiet, inevitable conversations late at night with Dahlia. Together, they realized that as much as they loved the neon-lit chaos and quiet corners of Seoul, the horizon was pulling them back across the ocean. When the decision was finally made, it wasn't a sudden escape, but a purposeful step into a new chapter. They traded the dense city skyline of South Korea for the raw, open expanse of Wyoming.
Moving onto a ranch in the American West was a drastic change of pace, but it suited them surprisingly well. Financially secure thanks to her family's legacy, Halen didn't have to worry about running a business or working an office job. She could fully devote her time to what mattered most to her: her partner, her hero work, and her content creation. The wide-open spaces gave Halen room to breathe - and more importantly, plenty of private land to set up an extensive outdoor archery range that frequently featured in her YouTube videos. Lucky, naturally, decided the ranch was his personal kingdom, spending his days chasing vast expanses of nothing and supervising Dahlia as she helped turn the place into a real home. With Dahlia by her side, the quiet ranch in Wyoming became the anchor Halen had spent years looking for without knowing it.Leaving Seoul didn't mean walking away from her drive or her heroic instincts. Back on American soil, Halen continued to dedicate herself to hero work on her own terms, protecting nearby communities, responding to emergencies, and staying vigilant. She balanced that gritty vigilante life with her thriving online presence, documenting ranch life, high-level archery training, and dog content with her signature blunt wit.
She might be swapping tactical gear for dirty boots on the ranch on some days, and setting up camera tripods on others, but Halen didn't change who she was at her core. She still took risks, still refused to sit idle, and still reached for her bow whenever evil reared its head. Only now, she wasn't just surviving her life or hiding in the shadows; she was building a real life with Dahlia, connecting with a global audience, and being a hero strictly on her own terms.
